Educational Uplift Project in Pakistan
PROSPER International a non-profit, registered 501(c)(3), organization is kicking off its first major educational project at KathGarh Saadaat in Dera Ismail Khan in Pakistan.
History and Achievements
Al-Sadiq Public School; located at KathGarh Saadaat in Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan; is the first major educational project of PROSPER International.
The school project was initiated by local community in 2007. Since 2010, our Pakistan team is supervising the school administration. The school has since been upgraded from Grade 4 to Grade 10. Major achievements of the present administration include the following.
- Continued Exceptional Performance of Students (87-100% passing in A1 or A grade) in Board Exams for Grades 9 and 10th, making it one of the best performing schools in the whole board.
- Increase in student strength each year
- School upgrade to next level each year
- Installation of solar powered ceiling fans and lights in each classroom. Initial setup not being connected to the power grid didn’t have fans or lights
- Regular Professional Trainings for teaching staff
- Performance based salary increments to teaching staff each year
- Minimum qualification of teaching staff increased to B.Sc and incentivizing existing faculty to enhance their qualification
- Introduction of proper school uniform in school and distribution of free uniform to needy children
- Addressed basic needs of restrooms and clean drinking water on facility
- Establishment of Computer, Physics and Chemistry labs for middle school students
- Integration of quality modern secular and social education
All these achievements have become possible by the selfless dedication of the current administration, and equally importantly, by the generous financial support of countless people in Pakistan and US. The school is currently housed in a rental facility with a number of mud-brick rooms (mostly constructed by our organization) and an open area (serving as playground for kids). The current setup, being overwhelmed by the increasing number of students, is unable to support the existing and future educational needs of the local population. Therefore, it urgently needs to be relocated to a proper school building.
Construction Updates
In 2017 Prosper Pakistan acquired about 7 acres of land for construction of the new campus. This land is enough to cater to future needs of the schools: upgrading the school to Higher Secondary School (High School) level, increasing the student population to 2500, and having boarding facility to house students from far-flung villages. In 2018, boundary walls were constructed around the acquired land. In 2019, we started working on laying the foundation for the first building, which is now in the final stages. All this has been possible with the grace of Almighty and your generous donations.
