AL SADIQ PUBLIC SCHOOL – Pakistan

Educational Uplift Project in Pakistan

PROSPER International a non-profit, registered 501(c)(3), organization is kicking off its first major educational project at KathGarh Saadaat in Dera Ismail Khan in Pakistan.

History and Achievements

The school is currently housed in a mud-brick building and has far out-run its capacity to cater educational needs of youth in Kathgarh Saadat and near-by villages. The school project was initiated in 2007 on land donated by local community members. Since 2010 our current Pakistan team members, are supervising the school administration. The school has since been upgraded from Grade 4 to Grade 9. Major achievements of the present administration include the following.

  • School upgrade to next level each year.
  • Increase in student strength each year.
  • Regular Professional Trainings to teaching staff members.
  • Salary increment of teaching Staff each year.
  • Increased requirement of minimum qualification of teaching staff to B.Sc.
  • Introduction of proper school uniform in school and distribution of free uniform to needy children.
  • Facility expansion and upgrade on need basis each year including installation of solar powered ceiling fans and lights in each classroom.
  • Addressed basic needs of restrooms and clean drinking water on facility.
  • Establishment of Computer, Physics and Chemistry labs for middle school students.
  • Integration of quality modern secular and social education.

All these achievements have become possible by the selfless dedication of the current administration, and equally importantly, by the generous financial support of countless people in Pakistan and US. The school is currently housed in a couple of rented mud-brick houses and an open area (serving as playground for kids). The current setup, being overwhelmed by the increasing number of students, is unable to support the existing and future educational needs of the local population. Therefore, it urgently needs to be relocated to a proper school building.

 Future plans

PROSPER INTERNATIONAL, a registered 501(c)(3), IS SEEKING FUNDS to materialize the dreams of this ignored community youth to have access to quality education at affordable cost. Prosper International team has come up with a three-Phase plan to have a comprehensive education facility for youth of Kathgarh Sadaat and adjoining villages. When completed, the school will cater to the needs of 1600 students from Montessori to Intermediate (Grade 12). It will consist of a co-education Junior Section (Montessori to Grade 4) and two separate (boys and girls) Senior Sections (Grade 5 to Grade 12). The school will also have a boarding facility to cater to students coming from farther villages. Please see  below slides for further details on the three-Phase plan.

Phase I, to be completed by March 2016, will consist of:

  • Procurement of 40 kanal (~218,000 sqft) land (enough for all three phases).
  • Construction of 20,000 sqft of building space to house
    • 26 classrooms,
    • 3 labs,
    • 3 offices and
    • 1 staff room.

Once completed the facility will be able to cater to more than 780 students from Montessori to Grade 10. The total estimated cost (including land acquisition, building construction, furniture) of Phase I is around $380K.
