Quality and Affordable Education for All
One of the primary missions of PROSPER International is to provide quality and affordable primary and secondary education facilities for students in rural areas of Pakistan. According to World Bank and UNICEF the percentage enrollment of male (female) students in Primary schools in Pakistan is in the 70’s (60’s) as compared to high 90’s or 100% in most developed countries [1,2]. This ratio drops to only 30’s (20’s) for secondary education [2,3]. There is also considerable disparity in enrollment numbers for urban and rural areas. According to these estimates [2], students in rural areas are 30% (50%) less likely than their urban counter parts to attend primary (secondary) schools [2, 4]. These statistics also indicate that there is a considerable gender disparity in enrollment numbers in the rural areas.
Some of the factors for this trend in low enrollment numbers and disparity between urban and rural enrollment numbers are:
- Lack of interest from Government and Private sector.
- Lack of understanding of importance of education by the local population.
- Insufficient educational facilities in Government run schools.
- Lack of accountability and oversight, resulting in low attendance rate of teachers.
- High attrition rate of quality teachers in Government run schools.
- High student drop-out rate due to outdated pedagogical methods.
- Financial constraints of local population preventing parents to send their children to schools.
Keeping these factors in mind, PROSPER International will not only be developing quality and affordable educational facilities in rural areas, but will also be working on eliminating the social factors affecting student enrollment. Our team of advisors consists of highly trained personnel with many years of academic and teaching experience in best universities of Pakistan, US and Europe. Our multi-faceted approach consists of (i) increasing awareness of importance of education among local population, (ii) equipping teachers with modern pedagogical methods to accelerate learning among students while retaining their interest, (iii) having competitive pay-structure for teachers and providing performance-based pay increments, (iv) modern and comprehensive educational facilities equipped with sports and extra-curricular facilities, (v) affordable tuition rates and availability of partial and complete scholarships for needy students, (vi) developing good moral and ethical standards in students to make them good citizens and imbibing in them a sense of responsibility towards the society.
Our vision is to invest in the youth to transform these low-income, less-aware rural areas into well-aware and financially stable geographical units that can make these educational facilities self-sustaining within one generation.
We invite you to help us raise our next generation.
